Japan Travel: Our Family Journey Across Japan with a Baby & a Toddler

Traveling to Japan was a long-time dream, one we finally made come true twice.
First in April 2024, when our son was just one year old, for an unforgettable 2.5-week trip.
Then again in 2025, this time for a full month, traveling deeper across the country with our now 2-year-old toddler.

On this page, youโ€™ll find our complete Japan travel guide, bringing together both experiences and all our detailed itineraries to help you plan your own trip to Japan, with or without kids.

Why Travel Japan with a Baby or a Toddler?

Japan might not be the first destination that comes to mind when traveling with a young child, and yet, it turned out to be one of the most family-friendly countries weโ€™ve ever visited.

From spotless public transport to incredibly helpful locals, Japan is:

  • extremely safe

  • very clean and organized

  • surprisingly easy with a stroller

  • deeply respectful and kind toward children

Both in 2024 and 2025, we were constantly amazed by how naturally babies and toddlers are welcomed everywhere.
